Irrigation of Citrus – A Practical Approach 2024

REGISTRATION OPEN

Course Summary

Water is a valuable and scarce resource, and there will be increasing pressure in the future to improve water and nutrient use efficiency. Today, most nutrients are applied through irrigation systems, and if the system’s efficiency is compromised, nutrient application will be as well. This irrigation course focuses on the effective management of soil moisture. Join us to discuss the basic principles of irrigation scheduling, including when and how much to irrigate, and how to plan and adjust accordingly.

Course Summary:

Water is a valuable and scarce resource, and more and more pressure will be experienced in the future to increase water and nutrient use efficiency. These days most of the nutrients are applied through the irrigation system, and if the efficiency of the irrigation system is questionable, the nutrient application will also be questionable. This irrigation course will focus on the effective management of soil moisture. Join us in discussing basic principles of irrigation scheduling, including when and how much to irrigate, and how to plan and adjust accordingly.

Kursus Opsomming:

Agenda (English):

  • Session 1: Collecting orchard information needed to set up an irrigation schedule
  • Session 2: Practically collecting data in an orchard to set up a theoretical schedule
  • Session 3: Practical aspects of irrigation system maintenance
  • Session 4: Setting up a theoretical irrigation schedule
  • Session 5: Making observations in the field to assist in adjusting the theoretical schedule and the calibration of tools available in your decision making

Agenda (Afrikaans):
